Conflict of Interest Statement


The Virginia Chapter, American College of Cardiology is committed to truthful, evidence-based, unbiased scientific inquiry in realizing our vision to help our members provide high quality cardiovascular care for patients by improving their practice environment. Full and accurate disclosure of financial support to audiences of any chapter programs, products or publication will be informed, prior to their participation, of the Virginia Chapter’s and/or all individual contributors to any Virginia Chapter program, product or publication of all relevant relationships with commercial interests producing health care related good and services.

The Virginia Chapter is committed to resolving all conflicts of interest prior to a contributor’s participation in a program, product or publication and ensuring that participants are fully aware of relationships with commercial interests.

The following statement is read by the President or Chair to remind members of potential conflicts before any meeting of the chapter council, committees or task forces.

"It is my duty to remind you that the American College of Cardiology and the Virginia Chapter maintains an official policy on relationships of physicians with industry with respect to our participation in all meetings of boards, committees and task forces.  If this council/board/committee/task force takes under consideration today a matter where a relationship you have would apply, you should absent yourself and not participate in the discussion for its duration."
